✍️ Become A Better Writer in 30min (Step-by-Step Guide):

Using AI. Starts with an amazing story. List of tools inside. Plus, is Google screwed?

This is The Level Ups. Modern business news for the future business leader (in plain-Jane English).

Today:

  • An incredible story of using AI to write professionally.

  • List of tools to help you become a master writer.

  • Who’s in the most trouble moving forward?

Let’s get into it.

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes & 50 seconds.

AI: The Great Equalizer

I often write about how AI might take your job. But it can also open doors for you and your business. Depends on how you use it.

This is a fantastic story and a great example.

Danny Richman mentors a young man with poor literacy skills who is starting a landscaping business.

This young man struggled to create professional emails, so Danny created a program to solve this issue.

Danny built a new Gmail account that is connected to GPT-3 (AI).

The best part: he also created a tutorial on how to build it for yourself.

The details are in the link, but here are the steps you’d have to follow (summary):

  • Open a free Zapier account at Zapier.com.

  • Open a free OpenAI API account at https://openai.com/api/

  • Create a new Gmail account at https://mail.google.com/ (would not recommend using your existing Gmail account).

  • Once your Zapier account is registered, add this unofficial GPT-3 integration from Yohei

  • Copy the following prompt (without the quotes) to a document on your device: “Generate a business email in UK English that is friendly, but still professional and appropriate for the workplace. The email topic is: “

  • Send an email to your new Gmail account once the Zap has been created and published. After a few minutes, you should receive a response with a professionally formatted email.

This is the before and after (it’s incredible):

You can set this up yourself in 30min following Danny’s video. Check it out.

Become a master writer with these tools:

I’ve used these tools, and I can tell you they help, especially if you're not a great writer.

While they’re great (not perfect), there is one flaw. It can’t capture a writer’s personality. So if you’re picky about how you come off in your writing, these may not be for you.

If you’re flexible, this list will be a game-changer for you.

General tools:

  • Chat GPT - will write anything for you.

  • Moonbeam - your next great essay, blog post, or letter to shareholders.

  • Explain Paper - upload a paper and get an explanation (for your pre-writing).

  • Compose AI - chrome extension to auto-complete your sentences (better than. Gmail’s).

Business tools:

  • Genius AI - reports from text prompts (waitlist).

  • Kick Resume - it will write your resume.

  • Jasper AI - copywriting blog posts, ads, and more.

  • Write Sonic - plagiarism-free marketing content instantly.

Who’s in Trouble?

You might think it’s writers (and it is to some degree), but that’s not where I'm going with this.

It’s Google that might take a big hit. Chat GPT is a more human version of Google with more human answers and no ads.

People are talking about how “Google is Done,” which makes sense. I already covered how nearly 80% of Google’s revenue comes from ads.

This is bad news for Google, but their stock price hasn’t taken any hits, so investor confidence remains strong. Looming layoffs are likely stabilizing the stock price, so they’ll probably go through.

But you’re probably wondering how AI companies like Chat GPT make money if they’re not serving ads.

They charge on a per-use model. Most AI software is in beta, but they’ll be charging for credits soon. Some already do, depending on what AI you’re using.

These are typically called “tokens.” You buy them in advance, and they act as currency to use the AI models.

It’s a battle of business models. Ads vs pay-per-use.

Will Google go down, or will the revenue model these AI companies fail to produce the returns they need?

Time will tell.

Thanks for reading!
